A View from the Bridge11/12/2013 to 13/12/2013
11th-13th December, Big School, 7:30pm
One of Arthur Miller’s best-loved and greatest plays, A View from the Bridge is an intense, two-act play, set in a deprived area of New York in the 1950s. At the heart of the plot is Eddie Carbone, a rough, ill-educated Italian immigrant, who is protective of his small family. Eddie fails to acknowledge to himself his inappropriate feelings for his niece, Catherine. When Eddie agrees to shelter his wife’s illegal cousins, freshly arrived fro Sicily, he does not bargain for the instant attraction between his niece and one of the immigrants.
The plot is set for an explosive confrontation between Eddie and the very people he should be helping. Violent, hard-hitting and shocking in its exploration of suppressed desire, this play is set to showcase the acting talents of all involved, and offer a memorable treat for the audience.
Tickets are available from the School’s website.
