The Importance of Being Earnest10/12/2014 to 12/12/2014
Whitgift Drama is delighted to bring Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy of manners to Big School in December. Mistaken identities, formidable aunts, and cucumber sandwiches, conspire to interrupt the marriage plans of two London gentlemen…and their plans to stay single. The Upper School’s finest young actors bring Wilde’s scintillating wit and razor-sharp satire to life in this colourful and light-hearted production. The play’s combination of sparkling dialogue, shrewd social commentary, and farcical confusion, has made it a firm favourite of audiences for more than a hundred years, and Whitgift’s ‘Earnest’ is sure to carry on that tradition, in a production that appeals to all ages.
