HMS (now HQS) Wellington was built for the Royal Navy in 1934. She patrolled the Pacific around New Zealand from 1936 until recalled for duty during World War 2 when she rescued over 450 Merchant Navy seamen in the Atlantic, evacuated troops at Dunkirk, participated in the North African landings and helped sink an enemy U‐Boat. In 1947 she was purchased by the Hon Company of Master Mariners to serve as their Livery Hall; her engine and boiler rooms being transformed into the magnificent Court Room.
She also houses an exhibition of maritime history. Guided tours have been specially arranged prior to dinner.
The cost will be £75 for WA members and their guests and £90 for non-members. Pre-dinner drinks will be served outside on the quarter‐deck, followed by an excellent three-course dinner with wines. Reception & Tour:7pm for 7.45pm. Dress: Black Tie, Mess Kit, Decorations. Book online or complete and return the booking form together with payment.
