This is a book of memories that Peter Cox (1955-64) has assembled and edited from reminiscences sent in by Old Whitgiftians, some going back to before the war, augmented by many more culled from the pages of the Whitgiftian. There is no doubt that the vagaries of memory are such that many are only a version of the truth, which is at this distance hard to determine. A typical example is the tree branch that fell on the head of the Headmaster Geoffrey Marlar the Head and severely injured him, not long after he came to the school. If you have a new slant on any story, or a completely new tale to tell, Peter would be keen to hear from you. If so, do email him on coxpeter@btinternet.com to kick off an off-line conversation.
