OWs at Henley Royal Regatta

A small but select group of Old Whitgiftians and their guests, including WA President Stuart Woodrow and his wife Monique, enjoyed a wonderful day out in the Sun at Henley Royal Regatta on Sunday 7th July 2013.

After being treated to tea, coffee and pastries on arrival, the group were amongst the first to board The Southern Comfort vessel where they enjoyed Pimm’s or champagne during a 90 minute voyage along the racing route.

Upon their return to the very beautiful, privately owned, Bird Place, they feasted on a gourmet meal in the shaded marquee, which included a choice between sumptuous lamb or delicious lobster.

A second river cruise followed, disturbed only slightly by a passenger picking up a minor injury in a fall, necessitating a delay as an ambulance was awaited. (Apparently some non-Old-Whitgiftians are unable to handle their Pimm’s.)

A classic English tea was enjoyed on returning to Bird Place, followed by a leisurely stroll around the beautiful gardens on this most splendid of Summer days.

Appropriately satiated, the group returned to their respective residences having thoroughly enjoyed a memorable day out.
